Geospatial Web Frontend Engineer (2D/3D) – Defense & GEOINT

About the role

We are building next-generation 2D and 3D geospatial intelligence applications for mission-critical use cases in the defense and security domain. Our products support analysts and operators with high-fidelity situational awareness, combining terrain, imagery, sensor data, and temporal analytics in performant web-based 3D environments.

To accelerate our 3D visualization roadmap, we are looking for a Geospatial Web Frontend Engineer (2D/3D) who is passionate about geospatial technology, performance optimization, and building intuitive interfaces for complex data.

 

What you will do

  • Build and optimize 2D/3D geospatial web experiences using CesiumJS, MapLibre GL JS and deck.gl in a TypeScript/React environment
  • Implement terrain rendering, vector overlays, point clouds, photogrammetry and volumetric data
  • Develop visualization tooling for sensor footprints, tracks, geofencing, and temporal playback
  • Design and implement layer management systems for raster and vector data
  • Optimize rendering performance (GPU profiling, LOD strategies, instancing, culling, worker offloading)
  • Enable offline and air-gapped 3D visualization workflows, including asset packaging and validation
  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, data engineers and domain experts
  • Contribute to testing, documentation, telemetry and long-term maintainability

 

What you bring

  • Strong experience with TypeScript and React
  • Proven hands-on experience with CesiumJS and modern WebGL/WebGPU-based 3D visualization
  • Solid understanding of geospatial data formats, coordinate reference systems and temporal data
  • Experience optimizing browser-based rendering performance (GPU, memory, render loops)
  • Confidence working on both visualization logic and UI/UX details
  • Experience delivering production-grade 3D features with high performance and accuracy requirements

 

Nice to have

  • Experience with deck.gl, kepler.gl, custom shaders or GPU compute
  • Background in remote sensing, photogrammetry or LiDAR visualization
  • Familiarity with defense or mission-critical environments
  • Knowledge of NATO symbology (e.g. MIL-STD-2525)
  • Contributions to open-source visualization projects
