Engineering Manager opportunity in Munich.

I’m currently supporting a fast-growing travel-tech company in the search for an Engineering Manager for a highly product-focused Guest Experience team.

This is not a pure people-management role. The team is looking for someone who enjoys leading engineers, shaping technical direction, and still staying close to the code.

The role sits at the heart of the product: search and listing pages used by millions of users. The focus is on building scalable, high-traffic systems, improving discovery, and creating a better user experience from search to booking.

What they are looking for:

• Strong Engineering Management or Tech Lead experience

• Hands-on mindset, ideally still comfortable spending around 40% of the time on technical contribution

• Strong background in either Java/Kotlin/Spring Boot or TypeScript/Node.js/React

• Experience with scalable systems, cloud environments, Kubernetes, CI/CD and modern engineering practices

• Product mindset, ownership, and the ability to work closely with Product, Design and Stakeholders

• English is required, German is a plus

• Munich-based hybrid model, around 50% office presence
